As we prepare for the arrival of The Moving Wall on June 25th, 2026, VFW Post 6418 has a busy schedule of community events and service projects. We invite all members and supporters to participate in:

VFW Day of Service: Join us this May as we give back to our local community.

Buddy Poppy Drives: Help us generate vital funds for the Veterans in Need Fund.

Backpacks4Veterans: Supporting our homeless brothers and sisters with essential supplies.

Scout of The Year: Applications for St. Albans VFW Post 6418 are due by March 1st, 2026 - See Details under "Programs."

Gun Raffle Ticket Sales: Get your tickets now to support our numerous other local programs, including bringing The Moving Wall to St. Albans this coming June 25-29, 2026.

Veterans Visibility Day at West Virginia State Capitol, March 13th, 2026.

Recruiting and Information Booth: Proposed and scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026.

We are also focused on Officer Training, Recruitment, and Grant Writing to ensure our post remains strong and sustainable. Whether it's through an Honor Guard detail or a local outreach event, there are many ways to get involved. Contact us today to learn how you can help.

VFW Post 6418 website admins and potential admins should be aware that there is an online VFW6418 website training class every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., hosted by the VFW National Webmaster. If you are interested in becoming an "Admin," please let us know. Contact the Commander.

Welcome to St. Albans, West Virginia's "All America" VFW Post 6418.

It was founded in St. Albans, West Virginia, on October 3, 1957.

The All-American program recognizes excellence in teamwork, leadership, achievement, and membership growth within VFW programs.

Post 6418 Performance: The current membership percentage for VFW Post 6418 is 110.16%

(66 total members.) Annual Members - Please consider upgrading to Life Membership.

We now have 48 Life Members. Attention, Life Members - I respectfully request that you

upgrade to Gold Legacy Life Membership. Visit vfw.org to make changes to your

membership online, including renewing and upgrading.

St. Albans VFW Post 6418 is on schedule to be awarded both "All-State" and "All-American."

Let us "Stay the Course." I encourage VFW Post 6418 veterans to get involved as our membership and activities grow in 2026. I strongly encourage you to help with The Moving Wall, perhaps the most ambitious project our VFW Post has ever undertaken.

Review our new website and lend a hand whenever and wherever you can. If you have any questions or suggestions, or if you need help and would like to talk, please get in touch with me. You can find information about training and resources at VFW.org. Please familiarize yourself with all the training and resources available on the VFW National Website (VFW.org). If you have not already done so, you will need to create an account. A "MY VFW" will be created specifically for each veteran with a VFW.org account.
Every time you visit the national website (VFW.org), you can go to "MY VFW" for effortless access to everything, which is a lot!

For the 2025–2026 VFW Administrative Year, we aim to recruit 100 new members.

We can make it happen if we work together. I am counting on our members to bring in the necessary recruits.

I know this can be accomplished.

Reaching our target of 100 total members, a realistic goal based on membership input,

now requires fewer than forty (35) additional members.

Meetings are held at 1011 Pennsylvania Ave. on the third Thursday of each month.
Next Meeting: March 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Arrive early for informal discussions.

Their election is in April for 6 elected VFW Post Officer positions:

1) Commander

2) Senior Vice Commander

3) Junior Vice Commander

4) Quartermaster

5) Chaplain, and

6) 3-Year Trustee

The VFW 3-Year Trustee automatically rolls down to be next year's 2-Year Trustee; the VFW 2-Year Trustee automatically rolls down to be next year's 1-Year Trustee. It is a procedural move, i.e., they are not elected, having once been elected as the 3-Year Trustee.

Delegates to the National Convention are elected at the April meeting based on membership numbers as of March 31.
