District 2 School of Instruction – Official Notice
A School of Instruction for District 2 will be held on Saturday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. The training will take place at St. Albans VFW Post 6418, 1011 Pennsylvania Ave. in St. Albans, West Virginia 25177.
Several representatives from the Department will be present to provide instruction across multiple subject areas. All Post Commanders within District 2 are required to attend this School of Instruction ("SOI").
Much of the material presented will be particularly relevant to Quartermasters and Adjutants, and each Post is strongly encouraged to ensure that their QM and/or Adjutant is in attendance. Topics will likely include OMS procedures, weekly tally sheets, and an overview of the new Command Post system that will replace OMS.
This training will offer valuable information for all officers, and it would be beneficial for each Post to have its full leadership present. If a Post is unable to send a representative, please contact District Commander Chad Conley as soon as possible.

- Annual Veterans Day Ceremony, November 10-11, 2026, VFW Flag Memorial. Location: Nitro Veterans Memorial at the corner of 21st Street and First Avenue, adjacent to WV Rt. 25 (Bank Street), Nitro, West Virginia. Nov. 10 (Evening): Flag-lowering ceremony with a traditional playing of Taps. Nov. 11 (Morning): Sunrise service held at 7:30 a.m. to mark Veterans Day.
